Bowel Cancer Screening

If bowel cancer is detected at an early stage, before symptoms appear, it is easier to treat and there is a better chance of surviving it.

All men and women aged 60-74 are invited to carry out a test every two years.   If you are 75 or over, you can ask for this test by calling the freephone helpline on 0800 707 60 60.

A new improved home test kit for screening will be introduced from April 2018.  It is called a faecal immunochemical test (FIT) and it will replace the guaiac faecal occult blood test (gFOBt). More information will be available on the NHS Choices website.
