askmyGP is for GP related enquiries only, if you have a nurse related enquiry please telephone the surgery.
Using a secure message, you can explain your symptoms or problem in your own words. A GP will review the message and will respond by email or telephone. If you need to see a GP, you will be offered an appointment, but in many cases the GP will be able to help you without a visit to the surgery.
We try to make sure you see the doctor of your choice but if they are not available we may ask you to see another doctor.
Unfortunately we are unable to give any advice if you are abroad as our medical indemnity does not cover this.
If you do not have access to a computer or a smartphone you can still telephone or come into the practice and speak to one of our receptionists.
How do you use the askmyGP system ?
Follow this link to the askmyGP website to register (you will only have to register the first time).
Then you complete a simple questionnaire to ask a question or advice from a member of the practice team. If you are asking for clinical advice you can select the Doctor you usually see or you can select ?anyone?. A member of our clinical team will get back to you, either by responding to your email or by telephone.
If your query is more of a nursing or administration query it will be forwarded to our nursing or non-clinical team to respond.
We aim to get back to you within the day if your query is submitted before 5pm during the normal working week, but it may take longer in the early days or if we are experiencing high volumes of emails.
Do not have access to a computer or smartphone?
If you do not have access to a computer or a smartphone you can still telephone or come into the practice and speak to one of our receptionists.
The receptionists have been asked by the doctors to take some brief details from you about the nature of your problem, in confidence, to help then direct the concern / query to the most appropriate person.
If you would like to make an appointment with a nurse or health care assistant please telephone reception as previously.
How soon will the doctor contact me?
The doctor will contact you as soon as possible, usually within the day, so please stay in or with your phone. Please let us know if you need a call at a particular time and we will try to accommodate this if we can.
What happens when the doctor contacts me?
The doctor will discuss the problem with you and work out what to do next. You may want advice, or a non-repeat prescription, or you may need to come into the surgery. The doctor will arrange an appointments if you need to be seen ? usually the same day.
Do I need to contact you early in the day?
No, the service is exactly the same whatever time you call. There is often a rush at the start of the day, so you may find you get a quicker response later on.
